February 8-10, 2013, the City of Ventura will host the first Carnevale Ventura, a celebration of the Italian Renaissance. A period fair, parties, masked balls, educational exhibits and performances will feature exquisite costumes and exotic masks of 15th century Italy and modern Venetian carnival. Revelers are encouraged to make or acquire and wear their own personalized period costume and participate in competitions and processions. Entertainment at the masked balls will range from Renaissance dancers, musicians, acrobats and jugglers performances to reenactments of famous events. The Museum of Ventura County will exhibit their collection of Historical Figures of the Renaissance and Reformation by artist and historian George Stuart. Hotels and restaurants are expecting exceptional crowds, and early bookings are encouraged. Information for Faire Vendors |
